Ben Baseball - Breakout Game and Quotes

Ben has been playing Pinto (machine pitch) league this year - a "play up" from T-ball age since his bday is right on the border line. It's been a long road this season learning how to hit, but he's been super patient throughout all the strikeouts (6 pitches) and now towards the end, making connections more and more frequently.

This week, in the first game of the playoffs, Ben had a "breakout game". Went 4-for-4 and scored 3 of those times. The 4th hit was a "shot" right back up the middle on the LEFT side of the pitching machine -- first time EVER hitting to the left side (almost always behind on the swing). Awesome!

Some classic quotes by Ben after the game, when describing it to Mommy:

Coach Runner said I batted 1000. (What does that mean?) I have no idea.

I made it to "4th base" 3 times!

Update 05/22
Ben had another good game yesterday - turns out to be their final game of the season. Lost by 1 run in the quarter finals of the playoffs. Ben was 2-for-3 with one of the hits a hard grounder through the 5-6 hole to the outfield! Awesome!

Ben - Sports Quotes

On the way to Avery's hoops game: "I hope Avery's team either wins, or loses."

On the way to his baseball game: "Dad, do we bat first or second in my game today?" (Dad - dunno, we'll see when we get there - why?). "Because if we bat first, I'm later in the lineup so I get to sit down for a while to start." (True that we were at the end of a LONG day of sports, starting at 8am with Ben hoops...)

Great Quotes by Ben

Heard part of Joan Jett's I love rock and roll on the radio, and Ben a bit later was singing it.

I love rock and roll, put another diamond in the juice box baby ...

Classic. The kids and I were rolling. Now it's stuck in all of our heads, but when we sing his verse out loud, he says

Stop singing that - I copyrighted it!

We were driving around in downtown Carlsbad after bailing on Pizza Port for dinner. Looking for any other choices to eat, and calling out what we see. Ben throws out:

We could eat at the "shuh-shee bar" (Sushi Bar).

Kids started ROLLING !!

Jewish Students at Stanford Go "Gaga" for New Building

Buddy Brook sent me this article. Funny timing - we (the Indian Guide Aztecs) just built a GaGa "pit" for our kids' local elementary school. We first saw GaGa in action about 3-4 years ago at Camp Marston in Julian. Kids absolutely LOVE it.

Ben Helping with Measurements

I was measuring whether a new TV would fit in the family room niche, and Ben wanted to help. I called out the measurements and he wrote them down. Great help!
