Talked to Avery on the phone today. Actually, Jamie typically calls me at work in the late afternoon, when the kids start asking about "da-da". Usually they just allow Jamie to put the phone up to their ear and listen intently as daddy tries to get them to talk. Today was a little different - Avery and daddy actually carried on a conversation:
d - "Hi Avery - what does the elephant say?"
a - "eeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh" (elephant sound)
d - "Did you go check the mail?"
a - "may" (mail)
d - "Are you at home?"
a - "mome" (home)
d - "What does the dentist make you do?"
a - "aaaaaahhhhhhhh"
Really funny to be talking to Avery on the phone.
We were all sitting around one morning recently watching the Today show, when Matt Lauer was saying a phone number for some charity thing. Connor took special attention, and repeated the number to help out Matt:
one...eight hundred....five, five, five...zero.... [Connor] nye, nye, nye !!!
From then on, you can lead Connor into it with 800-555-0.... and he'll finish it for you - nye, nye, nye !!

18-month checkup
went fine this week. No problems, just BIG kids !!
Avery was 31 lbs 13 oz, 34.5" - off the chart 100+ percentile.
Connor has "beefed up" nicely to 29 lbs 5 oz, 34", 90 % (up from 50 at 15 months!?)
Dr. Anna put Avery on a diet !?!? :-) She said, "speaking of weight"....so she's on non-fat milk now, and things like non-fat cheese, etc.
Realizing how much the kids have grown in the past 6 months, we noticed that both A&C can see the top of the dining room table now, when 6 months ago, Connor used to cruise under the table with his walker without ducking !! Think back 6 months or so when we used to change them in the downstairs bathroom laying ACROSS the cabinet countertop !! If we lay them there now, they would have to put their feet halfway up the wall.
Connor was making a little more noise yesterday morning when waking up. It wasn't early or anything, and he wasn't crying, rather just talking a lot to himself. We go to get him and find that his full-body PJs are unzipped down to the diaper, exposing his chest like some sort of sex symbol. He was just sitting there indian-style giving us the "mmm?" as if to say, "I don't know what happened"....
